Can You Spell Boring?

Last night's presidential debate was a lesson for any business presenter or public speaker. Your audience will forgive almost any gaffe or foible except for being boring. Where was the fire in the belly? Enthusiasm sells!

Both candidates may as well have been giving a P&L report. There was no passion, no conviction that created a feeling of excitement in the listeners. They were calm and matter-of-fact but did not inspire leadership. It was a safe presentation. There was nothing controversial and nothing memorable. Who won the debate? Nobody. They both lost the opportunity to rally the crowd

I always tell my clients there are no boring topics-only boring presenters. Well, Obama and McCain certainly proved my point.

I agree with you. Perhaps they were afraid to come out and be passionate. Perhaps it was not seemingly politically correct. Perhaps they needed a different business presentation coach, like you. It is my hope that they read your post.

I think Obama was drained and exhausted .Remember for a longwhile it was not going too well for him, and after the final results , he was having probably an out of body experience. Is this true.Am I the leader of this country> I understand that fully especially since he never was a
rabble rouser
McCain was calm, honest and told us the mistake was his and promptly squelched the boos when Obama's name came up.A true gentleman who handled defeat with graciousness and a perfect choice of words.
