Recovering from Public Speaking Bloopers - The Hand is Quicker Than the Eye

It's okay to make mistakes when you speak. It's almost inevitable that something will go wrong.

When Murphy's Law is in full effect, you have two choices: You can either die of embarrassment and continue to fumble ... OR you can use a recovery strategy.

Create a disaster recovery plan. Here's how:

1. Identify what could go wrong.
2. Create a response or a one-liner.

This was a great tip, Diane.
Last week I made a presentation and my choice of words included a racy double entendre (definitely by accident). One of the folks in the audience picked up on it and ran with it and it got a huge laugh.

I could have been red faced and mortified. Instead, your tip reminded me how lucky this was: It broke everyone up and people love to laugh and be entertained.

Lucky me!
